“Troy is my absolute best friend and I am beyond grateful to have his love and to give him mine.” – Emily

Emily and Troy both grew up in Munising, Michigan. They met in high school, when the pair were partnered up in metals class. While they immediately started a friendship. After graduation, she moved to Virginia and the two fell out of touch. Several years later, a turn of events landed Emily back in the Upper Peninsula working as a Sous Chef at a local restaurant. One day, she walked out to greet a table and Troy was there. “He had grown so handsome!” Emily recalls. He asked for her number before leaving the restaurant, called her a few days later, and they’ve been adventuring together ever since.

Their first summer together they were inseparable -kayaking, hiking, swimming, and camping all the time. Emily knew it was love early, and Troy admitted he always knew he loved me, and would often pray that God would bring me back in his life one day.  The couple loves the outdoors and the U.P., so they planned an outdoor wedding at Sand Point Beach all the way from their current home in Louisville, Kentucky. The small ceremony included only family, with a private dinner at Tracey’s at The Roam Inn, which is also the location of the reception. Emily’s sister stood as her Matron of Honor and Troy’s brother was his Best Man. With beautiful Lake Superior as the background. The color scheme was filled with colors of nature, like the lake, with an overall Bohemian theme – lots of beautiful jewelry!

It was an absolute joy to photograph Emily and Troy’s wedding. I love the pure happiness I was able to catch, particularly in the candid photos.  True love with Lake Superior as a backdrop – what could be more beautiful?
