My hometown is a real gem, one that I am endlessly inspired by. Located on the shores of Lake Superior, Marquette is the largest city in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. Summers in the “Yoop” are the perfect blend of small town charm, timeless elegance, and nature’s beauty. For this outdoor styled wedding shoot, I aimed to capture that feeling. To do so, I summoned the help of a few of my most trusted local vendors. Keep reading for more info, and to see the B-E-A-utiful finished product.
For catering, Sweet Basil Deli & Catering is it. Their elegant, romantic, and creative displays fit this shoot perfectly. Oh, and my mom, Shelly Morley, is the brilliant head honcho. Major props to Jamie Strand, owner of White’s Party Store, for helping us pick out the perfect bottles to pair. Weddings by Jeff Heidtman is an obvious choice for all your floral design needs. Based out of Skandia, MI, Jeff sees the flora of the world in a ravishing light. The magical heirloom flowers are from Rock River Farms, a diversified farm tucked in the Hiawatha National Forest.
The wedding cake was made by Blackburn’s Cupcakes and More, creator of sophisticated treats that taste just as luscious as they look! Our bride model, Erin McCullough, and our groom, Stosh Wasik, are wearing designs sourced from A Bride’s Choice UP. The modernly whimsical bling is from Monocle Jewelers in Sault Ste. Marie. And the decor? All found treasures sourced from Presque Isle Antique Salvage and Decor.
This shoot took place on the amazing Michigamme River Basin, about 35 miles Northeast of Marquette. There is no better place to represent the magical beauty of the Upper Peninsula than this log cabin location. Capturing its pristine draw and comforting embrace is no easy feat – but I think we did a bang up job.
Feast your eyes on the finished product! I hope you enjoy looking as much as I enjoyed creating.
